EOC Week 8: Creative Content Projects

For my final project’s creative content I will be designing a logo for my Bitches’ Brew brand.  I will use that logo on a label for either a custom tap handle or as a label that will be displayed on the custom glasses that will be manufactured to be used when serving the beer.  I will be using the custom serving glass idea similar to the one that Stella Artois uses for their beer but also along the lines of the more traditional tall, slender glass used when serving a wheat beer.  The glass will be unique and designed to display the enticing feature of the fresh blueberries bobbing up and down inside the beer.  I’m playing around with different ideas for the exact shape of the glass still.  Otherwise I will create a customized tap handle often used to distinguish a specialty beer in restaurants like The Yard House.  I’m planning to work with someone in the graphic design industry to help me with creating a digital mock-up of the logo, label, and glass or tap handle.  We have spoken briefly about the project and are in the “throwing around ideas” phase.  I’m hoping my logo and label will convey how drinking Beautiful Blue will enhance the Beautiful You!

EOC Week 7: The Pitch

Bitches Brews is a brand of beer targeted specifically at women.  Our motto is Real Chicks Dig Real Beer!  Brewed and bottled in Las Vegas, Bitches Brews is a family of fun and friendly brewers and avid beer drinkers dedicated to serving up the best homemade brews at all times.  The Bitches Brews’ microbrewery facility is located in Northwest Las Vegas.  Award winning Brewmaster Dave Otto brews a wide range of beers to suit everyone's taste including light beers, ales, porters, and stouts.  In November 2010, Tanya Glenn and Dave Otto teamed up to create a line of beers that demolished the myth that beer is a man’s beverage.  The first beer in our signature line is called Beautiful Blue.  It is a very tasty version of an authentic Bavarian-style Hefeweizen sweetened with fresh blueberries for a refreshing change of pace.  It’s a fantastic substitute for Sangria in the summer or Bailey’s and coffee in the winter.  This beer will change your opinion of what a beer can be!  Amazingly easy to drink, it will leave you wanting more.  It’s the perfect addition to your girls’ night out and will soon replace your wine collection.  Brewed in the town known for partying you can rest assured that we can take the party to your place, wherever that may be!  So grab a Beautiful Blue and show the world that you’re a real woman and Real Chicks Dig Real Beer!!

EOC Week 6: Me Times Three

My absolutely favorite personal hygiene product is my perfume.  It’s called Very Sexy and Victoria’s Secret makes it. (I know, big shocker there!)  Its sold in Victoria’s Secret stores in the beauty section.  The target audience for this product is women but men LOVE it! Every time I wear it a man asks what scent I’m wearing and asks where they can get it for their wife/girlfriend.
Next is my face lotion…it’s Neutrogena Healthy Skin face lotion.  It’s marketed to people concerned with caring for their skin with the most natural ingredients possible.  The tag line for the product is A Multi-Vitamin Facial Treatment with Alpha-Hydroxy and it has an SPF of 15.  You can purchase it at any drug or grocery store.
Lastly is my deodorant.  This one took me awhile to pin down.  I tried several deodorant brands before becoming a loyal user of Degree.  Degree Ultra Clear is targeted at women.  The packaging has a picture of a little black dress to suggest that it won’t leave any white marks on your clothes, which is a very appealing attribute to women.  For a while I used Secret but I found that by halfway through the day my body odor was coming back (Eeek!).  I was swayed to try Degree by their tag line Strong Enough for a Man but PH balanced for a Woman.  I’ve been a loyal customer for many years now.

EOC Week 5: Health Care Reform

Health-care reform in the United States is a hot topic in many political debates recently.  There's an entitlement mentality in this country that believes the government should just give us certain benefits such as "free" health care.  Just because Americans are uninsured doesn't mean they can't receive health care; it is illegal to refuse emergency medical service to anyone because of a lack of insurance. Also, there are many nonprofit organizations and government-run hospitals that provide services to those who don't have insurance.  While uninsured Americans are a problem in regards to the total system cost, it doesn't mean health care should be a right given to everyone by our government and paid for by taxpayers.  Any more government influence will only make things worse, leading to decreased doctor flexibility and poor patient care.  When the government controls things, politics always seep into the decision-making process.  Healthy people who take care of themselves may have to pay for the burden of those who smoke, are obese, etc.  Why should we punish those that live a healthy lifestyle and reward the ones who don't?  Currently the law mandates that employers either provide insurance for their employees or pay a penalty that would go toward government subsidies so employees can afford to buy their own insurance.  Many company officials say a wasteful public-private system is pushing costs much higher than they should be.  Overall, businesses will end up paying higher insurance premiums to make up for the fact that Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements often do not match the total costs hospitals incur treating these patients.  It is unclear to what extent these concerns would be alleviated under the reform plan.  In total, the plan is expected to cover more than thirty million people, but roughly another twenty million are expected to remain uninsured (one-third of whom are expected to be undocumented workers).  Additionally, more than two-thirds of large employers expect their health costs to increase as an impact of the reform, and more than a quarter were considering reducing benefits to employees to control costs internally.  This would be extremely detrimental to Americans since a large percentage of hard-working Americans rely on getting their health insurance through their employers!

Week 4 EOC: Advertising is Based on Happiness

I love to sleep!!  To me it is one of the three greatest pleasures in life.  There’s nothing like sliding into a soft, comfy bed at the end of a long, hard day.  I recently purchased new bedding from Kohl’s and it’s made a world of difference in my ability to unwind at night.  The sheets are a 600 count Egyptian cotton and the comforter is silk.  I don’t know who makes the sheets and the comforter brand is Daisy Fuentes, although that had absolutely nothing to do with my decision to purchase it.  To be honest, the only reason I chose that comforter is because it was the only one I could find that matches my already painted (lime green) bedroom.  (I did not pick the color.) It’s white with black flowers and I figured it would match any room it wound up in.  It is incredibly comfortable though!  I also purchased a body size pillow, with a super soft, fuzzy pillowcase.  That was the cherry on top.  It makes the whole experience of getting into bed at night an absolute pleasure!
As for buying something I later regretted….that rarely happens because I usually obsess over every purchase before I spend my hard-earned cash.  I have had to rack my brain to come up with something!  I can say that I have been disappointed with every car I have ever bought though.  This could be because they have all been used cars I guess.  Take my current car for example.  It’s a 2002 Chevrolet S10.  In the three or four years I’ve owned it I’ve had to replace the radiator, the fuel pump, and, most recently, the transmission.  All of these were extremely expensive to replace or repair.  I will never buy another Ford Escort, Toyota Corolla, or Chevrolet S10 ever again!

Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group - Video Games

In the ever-expanding world of video games competition to come up with the latest and greatest new thing is fierce.  The Star of the video game world right now is the Wii. “The Nintendo Wii is a huge hit with the young and old as well as classic players and non-traditional gamers. Everybody loves it.” (http://www.viewpoints.com/Nintendo-Wii-Console-reviews)  The Wii’s success is due to their ingenuity in designing games that incorporate a total body experience into everyday video gamers’ lives.  The Wii’s rapid growth is bound to slow down as their competitors incorporate full body motion into their video game systems.  But Nintendo’s Wii should be able to make a smooth transition from being the Star to a Cash Cow if they can keep making fresh games with cutting edge concepts like incorporating exercise or Beer Pong.  The current Cash Cow of the video game world is the Playstation.  From the original Playstation to Playstation 3 Sony has proven that they have what it takes to maintain buyer’s interest and meet their demands over the last 15 years.  “So while it may not be the newest or the most powerful system, it's certainly a safe bet.” (http://reviews.cnet.com/consoles/sony-playstation-2/4505-10109_7-30012264.html#reviewPage1)  The Dog in the video game race are games designed for the computer.  While many interactive computer games, like World of Warcraft, have managed to continue to draw interest, the fact is most gamers aren’t interested in playing games on their PC’s anymore.  The Question Mark, or up-and-comer, of the market is games designed for cell phones.  “Videogames on cell phones are gaining popularity among zealous gamers as well as people who have never played games on consoles or personal computers.” (cte.rockhurst.edu/s/945/images/.../Mic08sASSN01exampleSandDshifts.doc)  There’s a huge interest for on-the-go fun and cell phones are the most convenient way to be entertained since there’s no extra cords or equipment to hook up.  No matter what your preference, it’s clear that the world of video games is here to stay!

WEEK 1 EOC: EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE

Victoria's Secret is THE BEST place to buy lingerie and clothing, not only in stores, but also online.  I have purchased products from their company on a regular basis for many years now due to the high quality of their items and the level of customer service they provide.  Because of their ability to meet my needs in a pleasant and helpful manner I have expanded my purchases to their shoes and perfume.  In fact, I have never received more compliments on my perfume as I do when I wear a Victoria’s Secret scent!  I often buy gifts for my loved ones from Victoria’s Secret as well!  It has come to be a brand that I know and trust.  “Customers form expectations about the value and satisfaction that various market offerings will deliver and buy accordingly. Satisfied customers buy again and tell others about their good experiences.”  (Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, 10th Edition. printed pg. 7)

WEEK 1 EOC: MY VOICE

I have a passion for life!!  I love to eat, drink, travel, and learn.  I have always had a passion for the arts: music, films, paintings, decorating, and fashion.  I am an Interior Designer that aspires to be a Party Planner specializing in themed parties.  My goal is to use my passion and knowledge of Interior Design to create authentic atmospheres for my professional party planning business.  My personal style is organic architecture mixed with modern/contemporary furniture and accessories.  I love to incorporate the elements of nature into my designs because I feel they give spaces an inviting ambiance.  The more modern elements lend a sense of comfort and convenience.  Viewing and collecting art and antique furniture is a passion of mine.  I love to travel! I have lived in several different states in the US, including Hawaii.  I hope to travel to Italy, Greece, Jamaica, Amsterdam, Ireland and Bermuda in the very near future.  In my opinion, there is no better way to learn about a place than to immerse yourself in that culture.  I look forward to working with many different types of people in my career in an effort to create the most authentic atmospheres to customize each party to the individual or company in a way that leaves a lasting impression.
